SMA began in 1964 with a humble yet ambitious vision: to provide farmers with reliable agricultural parts that would keep their operations running smoothly. Founded by Bill Hurt, Sr. and Bill Hurt, Jr., what started as a collection of farm parts spread across butcher paper on a dusty old ping pong table has now grown into a nationwide agricultural parts supplier. Today, SMA stands as America’s Ag Parts Supplier, proudly offering over 75,000 parts that farmers and distributors across the United States rely on daily.

In a small room in Texas, Bill Hurt Sr. and his son, Bill Hurt Jr., laid the foundation for SMA with a deep-rooted commitment to helping farmers succeed. They began by supplying essential farm parts to local agricultural communities, with a belief that quality parts and great service could make a difference in the lives of farmers.

1964:

SMA was born from the vision of a father and son, with just a small inventory ofparts on a ping pong table.

1970s:

The company expanded its product line and opened its first distribution center inCorsicana, Texas.

1980s:

SMA introduced its own brand, TISCO, known for durable tractor parts, setting thestage for national expansion.

What started as a small family-run business has grown into a company with four strategically located distribution centers in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Corsicana, Texas; Des Moines, Iowa; and Fresno, California. This expansion has allowed us to serve the entire country with same-day shipping, ensuring that farmers get the parts they need when they need them.

1990s:

SMA solidified its position as a national leader by establishing key distribution
centers across the U.S.

2000s:

Our focus on innovation and customer service helped us expand internationally,reaching customers beyond U.S. borders.

Today:

With over 75,000 agricultural parts and an unmatched reputation for reliability,SMA continues to lead the industry.
